| Notes |
- Family saying:
As a large family, meals could get out of hand. Often relatives, such as Edward Coon's boys, would stop in to visit (and eat). Alison would tell the family, F.H.B. , her code for Family Hold Back, letting them know not eat too much so there would be enough to go around.
- (Research):"I found Alison on the census and knew she emigrated from Canada . She and Robert married in Toronto on September 29, 1881. Robert William Coon was 27, lists New York State as his birthplace. His parents were Robert W. and Catherine Coon. Allison was 24, born in Toronto to Duncan and Elizabeth(Fisher) Davidson. Robert was Lutheran and Allison, Congregational. They were married by Joseph Wild. Their witnesses were Willett F Caey and Amelia Jettie Davis (this was my great grandmother's sister). As, you already know Robert was a carpenter.
Allison's brother , Edward Sylvester Davidson was a gold beater. My grandfather was his eldest son. They came to Chicago 1887."
-Sue
- Sometimes when her daughter Bessie went shopping, she would buy 2 dresses. Alison would say:"Why do you need 2 dresses? You only have one back!"
- Jack remembers walking back from the Congregational Church in White Plains one Sunday about 1938 with the family. All the stores were closed, but the movie house was open. Jack wished he could go see a movie. Silently Grandma Alison hooked his arm with her cane and slipped him the 20 cents or so for admission.
