- He sailed for the U.S.A. on March 30, 1930 aboard the S.S. Caronia, leaving from Cobh. On the ship manifest he was listed as 19 years old, born in Tulrusk, Ireland and a farmer. He stated the following: his father's name as Patrick Gray, address Tulrusk, Eslin PO Leitrim, Ireland. The person who paid his passage was his sister. He had $25 in his possession. The relative he was staying with in New York was his cousin, Cors. McLoughlin who lived at 164 East 94th St, New York. The manifest further states he intended to make the US his permanent home, he was in good health, 5' 9" tall? with 'fresh' complextion, brown hair and grey eyes. The ship arrived in New York on April 10, 1930. [5]
